Case Study: 2014 Mercedes G63 AMG

Today’s case study is a 2014 Mercedes G63 AMG, in Obsidian Black.

This is a brand-new client, who found us after asking around for a reliable car cleaning company.

She reached out to us because, just a couple of days prior to this, she had seen a spider crawling on the dashboard, from the air vent below the windshield. Her legitimate concern was that, if left unattended, this could turn into a full-blown spider infestation of the whole entire car.

After all, spiders are nothing but the larger relative of a microscopic creature called the Dust Mite. And Dust Mites, as far as we know, roam undisturbed deep inside the carpets in most cars.

(Unless, of course, the car is meticulously cleaned on a regular basis.)

Clean My Car to the rescue…

I picked up the car from my client’s house, in the Oakridge area, and brought over to our shop Downtown.

The exterior looked decently clean, mostly because my client takes the car to a automated drive-through car wash about once a month. Even with that, there was still a noticeable improvement after the cleaning session was completed.

Quite typical for European cars, the wheels had a ton of brake dust, but because the rims are painted black, it is not as obvious as it would be on a silver colour.

The interior looked a bit messy, having not been properly cleaned and detailed in quite a few months.

We carefully checked for any spiders, but couldn’t find anything. So, the one spider that my client had seen, must have gotten in by accident.

After thoroughly inspecting every square inch of the interior, just for safe measure in case we missed something, we did an Ozone Shock Treatment.

Aside from killing many microorganisms, such as: bacteria, mold, viruses, allergens, etc., from places where cleaning itself can’t reach, this Ozone Shock Treatment has also a bonus side effect: it makes the interior of the car smell fresh.

Seats looked to be in good condition, except for the driver’s seat. On this one, the leather was visibly dirty, which made it look unnaturally shiny.

The shine is given by the body oils and grease which accumulate on a seat just from every day driving. The natural look of any leather seat should be matte, not shiny.

We made sure to gently clean the leather seats, and get rid of the shine.

All our packages include a thorough and intensive interior clean, which, in my experience, is what most car owners are interested in.

This Mercedes G63 AMG had a “haze” on the inside of the windshield. Even with the ventilation turned to high, the windshield was still foggy, and the owner complained about not being able to properly see at night.

This film is a combination of interior plastic out-gassing, exhaust fumes from other cars, brought in through the air vents, and your own body’s perspiration and breathing vapours.

Cleaning the inside of the windshield properly is not a simple task, as glass cleaners alone are not sufficient. In fact, without taking the proper steps, you just end up moving the film around, without any progress.

A few hours of solid and meticulous cleaning, and my client’s Mercedes G63 AMG is completely transformed…

The interior is now spotless — dirt and debris gone.

Leather seats are clean, and have a natural matte look.

The exterior has regained its true colour, and it looks (almost) like a brand new car.

My client was super happy with the results. This is what she had to say about it, on Google reviews:

Alex, thank you so much for accommodating me on a short notice. I’m very happy, and impressed with the results. No trace of spiders. I’ve told all my friends about the quality and convenience of your service. Thanks again!
