Case Study: 2018 Tesla Model 3

Today’s case study is a 2018 Tesla Model 3, in Solid Black.

This client was referred to me by a longtime client of mine (remember the Mercedes E400 in a previous Case Study?).

They have more than one Tesla in the family (you’ll see the other one in a future case study, as it is scheduled for a cleaning in November), but this one is his personal car, and he absolutely loves it.

This Model 3 has not been properly cleaned and detailed since new, even though the owner tries very hard to keep it as clean as possible.

(Fun Fact: Did you know that most car cleaners are not aware of Tesla’s “screen cleaning” mode? They just wipe the main screen while it’s on, scrambling settings, and causing frustration for the car’s owner…)

The client chose to go with the entry-level cleaning package, which in this case was OK, given the overall good condition of the car.

The only thing that I would’ve personally added was the Chemical-Free Interior Sanitizing option, which also gets rid of lingering odours, freshening up the interior of the car.

Clean My Car to the rescue…

Over time, the car got a few basic washes at various car wash places around town. The exterior, although dirty right now, was not in bad shape, and looked decently maintained.

The interior looked a bit messy, having not been properly cleaned and detailed in quite a few months.

Now, the good part is that the simplicity of the Tesla interior makes it so much easier to clean than other car brands — and the results are so much better.

All our packages include a thorough and intensive interior clean, which, in my experience, is what most car owners are interested in.

This particular car has a bad “case of haze” on the inside of the windshield. Even with the ventilation turned to high, the windshield was still foggy, and the owner complained about not being able to properly see at night.

This film is a combination of interior plastic out-gassing, exhaust fumes from other cars, brought in through the air vents, and your own body’s perspiration and breathing vapours.

Cleaning the inside of the windshield properly is not a simple task, as glass cleaners alone are not sufficient. In fact, without taking the proper steps, you just end up moving the film around, without any progress.

A few hours of solid and meticulous cleaning, and my client’s Tesla Model 3 is completely transformed…

The interior is now spotless — dirt and debris gone.

The exterior has regained its true colour, and it looks (almost) like a brand new car.

If you own a Tesla, and would like to get it properly cleaned and detailed, by someone with experience in the peculiarities of the Tesla brand, you’re in the right place.
