Today’s case study is a 2018 Audi A8L, in Plume Metallic.
The car belongs to a new client, who heard of us through a friend of a friend.

Up until now, the owner was taking care of the car himself, within the limitations of what a non-professional car enthusiast could do.
Luckily for him, he realized the limits of his own abilities, and was also sick and tired of the toll this was taking on his free time.
He started searching for a reliable and competent car detailing company to take on the burden, and deliver to his level of expectations.
That is always a tough challenge, because an enthusiastic owner can spend the entire weekend detailing the car, while the professional service has only a few short hours to accomplish at the very least the same, if not better, results.
The pressure was on, but I knew we were up to the task.
We had been in similar situations before, and met or exceeded expectations every single time.
Now, this particular client is also a local leader in his profession, and the car is part of his “success image”.
His clients see it, his friends see it, and his neighbours see it as well.
And it has to be consistent with everything else he does.
It’s amazing how much the right car can add to someone’s image. And, of course, the reverse is also true.
The wrong car can damage an otherwise “polished” image.
And by “wrong” I mean a car that’s been neglected by the owner, and it dirty and uncared for.
This is a very simple trick:
A consistently clean and shiny car gives the impression that the owner is driving a new vehicle.
And a new vehicle reinforces the perception of prosperity.
So, the smart car owner looks prosperous and successful by simply investing in keeping his or her car in top condition.

Despite owner’s best efforts, the exterior of the car still looked quite dull and unimpressive. Part of this is that consumer-grade car care products are never as effective as professional products, and part of it was user error.
The car looked more like Gray than Plume Metallic at this point.
The exterior has regained its true colour, and it looks (almost) like a brand new car.

The interior looked messy (after about a year of intensive use, and no cleaning), with a solid layer of dust on every surface, and lots of dirt and debris.
Seats were in good shape, with just surface dirt, which came out without posing much resistance.

Quick side note: Many car owners expect an interior in such condition to come out clean with “just a quick vacuum”. This is never the case. Aside from a thorough and extensive vacuuming, the carpets need to be shampooed, otherwise the improvement is minimal at best.
In this particular case, the client followed my advice, and chose the appropriate cleaning package.
A few hours of solid and meticulous cleaning, and my client’s Audi A8L is completely transformed…

We always get better results cleaning a higher-end car, such as an Audi, which is mostly because of the quality materials Audi uses in assembling their cars.
Just like anything else in life, with cars you get what you pay for. In this case, you pay more for an Audi than you’d pay for most cars, but you get much better, and more durable finishings.
The interior is now spotless — dirt and debris gone. It also smells fresh.
